Richard Stark / Chrome Hearts

I was invited to the PUYI 25th Anniversary × Chrome Hearts special collection preview, and when I heard Richard Stark was going to be there, I put a little extra thought into my outfit.

I figured everyone would probably show up in black and covered in Chrome Hearts, so I did the exact opposite — wore all white and not a single Chrome Hearts piece. Somehow, it worked and got his attention ????

When I introduced myself, he misheard my name as Jesse and thought I had the same name as his daughter, Jesse Jo. Instant bonus points haha.

Later I managed to get his autograph and we chatted for quite a while. He asked why my English was so good, which led to us talking about where I studied, where he lives, Boston, and a bunch of other things.

Before he left, he was flipping through a Chrome Hearts book on the table, spotted a photo of Jesse, and actually called me over to show me his daughter. You could tell how proud he is whenever he talks about his daughters ????

Then he asked for my name again and said, “I’m gonna remember that.”

Before leaving, he came over again, shook my hand, told me it was great meeting me, and said goodbye.

AHHHHHHH ???? As a complete nobody at an event like this, I genuinely feel like I somehow ended up being one of the guests who talked to him the most.

What an experience.
